Joseph H. Clissold - Wool Suit fabrics
Wool textiles have been processed, fabrics woven and dyed in the steep valleys around Bradford and Huddersfield in Yorkshire for hundreds of years.
In 1910 John Henry Clissold opened his woollen manufacturing business at Cleckheaton near Bradford.
Three decades later Robert Laidlaw commenced spinning and weaving Scottish tweed fabrics in the north of Scotland and became industry leaders in the application of colour in men's jacketing fabrics. Laidlaw joined the Clissold Group in 1989.
Over the last 20 years the company has invested heavily in technology. The whole administration from fabric design to final despatch is controlled by an integrated computer system which adds efficiency of production to the craft skills of the workforce.
Dechamps was acquired at the beginning of 2003 and has a history of Wool Textile Production in Belgium and Germany since 1857. Production and Administration are now based in Yorkshire with the Sales and Marketing directed from our Belgian office.
The Clissold Group business is truly world wide with major customers in Latin America, USA, Canada, UK and Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia, China, Korea and Japan.
British cloth is recognised around the world as the finest available. All Clissold Group fabric is woven in England and most of it has 'Made in England' woven into the selvedge. This and the
company's seal ensure the buyer is receiving the genuine article.
