Susie’s sheepskin boots

Traditional Boots Mocca

Makers of handmade sheepskin ugg boots in the UK since 1979. Our boots, hats, slippers and bags are made to order here in our Welsh country workshop.

Enjoy the warm and cosy feeling of natural sheepskin and let your feet breathe. Susie’s sheepskin boots will cherish and look after your feet – keeping them toasty warm through the coldest of winters.

The Australian surfing community originally established the ugg boot tradition back in the late 1960s – in a country with so many sheep they soon became a way of life
In many places their widespread popularity is relatively new - not so in the beautiful county of Pembrokeshire where these lovely boots have been warming the feet of locals for over thirty years.
It is here, in the small town of Narberth, that Susie Lincoln runs a thriving cottage industry devoted to making sheepskin boots in the UK.

Nyetimber English Sparkling Wine

The aim - to make premium sparkling wine that would rival Champagne. That aim has been fully realised, and over the years the wines have attracted international acclaim and set a high benchmark for premium sparkling wines the world over.

The secret of their success lies in the fact that these are at their heart, terroir driven wines, and therefore the fundamentals of geology, soil and aspect are the principle factors in the meticulous selection of all Nyetimber vineyard sites. The south of England shares similar geology and soils to the Champagne region, the chalk seam found there reappearing from under the Channel across the Sussex and Hampshire downlands. The classic Champagne varieties, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier are ideally suited to chalk and the Nyetimber vineyards present a combination of free-draining greensand over chalk sandstone as well as areas of pure chalk, perfect for Chardonnay in particular.

Now the largest vineyard in the UK, the Nyetimber Estate comprises 438 acres under vine and it is the fusion of expertise in the vineyard together with highly skilled winemaking that sets the wines apart. Also unique in the UK, Nyetimber is the only producer to make premium sparkling wine exclusively from estate grown fruit, thus ensuring complete control at every stage of the process.

Quintessentially British!

Green & Spring Natural Skincare Products

Inspired completely by the British countryside, Green & Spring products are created using herbs and flowers native to the British Isles. The products breathe in the goodness of land and, mixed wth other ingredients to assist their efficacy and aroma, they exhale the amazing.
 Our Commitment
British Ingredients
Green & Spring products contain extracts from plants native to the UK which have been cherished for their therapeutic qualities by English apothecaries for hundreds of years. These include lavender, chamomile, reosemary, rosehip, red clover, elderflower, thyme, geranium, marshmellow, comfrey, dandelion, peppermint, fennel and rose.
Natural and Ethcial Ingredients
Green & Spring use 100% natural botanical materials. All herbal extracts are sourced from the UK and all our ingredients are sourced ethically.
Essential Oils
Green & Spring uses natural essential oils of the highest quality (never nature-identical oils). Essential oils are the concentrated, aromatic essence of the plant, extracted from all its parts (leaves, stems, roots etc) and have been used for centuries. They have been scientifically researched and are shown to contain remarkable therapeutic properties - both psychological and physical. Their credibility runs hand in hand with care and level of ratios used. Green & Spring uses high ratios of essential oils in order to maximise well-being.
An essential oil consists of chemical compounds which have hydrogen, carbon and oxygen as their building blocks - the only material used in the cosmetic industry that is truly holisitic (ie penetrating the skin and affecting the mind, body and spirit).
Hard-blended Products
All our products are made by hand in the British countryside, This ensures the freshest batch quality and allows for considerable attention to detail (for example, avoiding the overheating of key ingredients which would make them 'pasteurised' and thereby destroying any natural benefits).

Brisbane Moss - Weavers and converters

Brisbane MossSince the middle of the 19th century, Moss Brothers had been weavers and converters of corduroy and moleskin fabric. About the turn of the century The English Velvet Cord Dyeing Company moved into the district and took over some of the local dyeing firms. Fearing the prospect of a monopoly in the dyeing trade, which could be to their disadvantage, several clothing companies got together along with the largest dyers in the district, Moss Bros.Ltd. with their extensive dye works at Bridgeroyd. Together they formed The English Fustian Manufacturing Company Ltd. on 13th February 1901.
Over the next few decades the EFMC continued to expand and eventually became a vertical operation incorporating Spinning, Weaving, Dyeing, Clothing Manufacture and also Retail outlets. In the early 1980’s due to changes in the demand for Corduroy Moleskin and Fustians and along with the competition from other countries the English Fustian Co were forced into administration with many of the divisions closing down. It was at this time that M Chapmans & Sons who also specialized in Pile Fabrics became associated with Brisbane Moss and Moss Brothers Dyers, and became the current owners in 1983.

J E Wilson and Sons(Kendal) - Confectionery

It is now over eighty years since James Wilson first started his world famous mintcake at the New York Inn premises in Kendal, where originally other confectionery such as Kendal Butter Tabs and Westmeria Caramel Toffee were made.

Kendal Mint Cake became so popular it was soon decided to concentrate on this product alone. By 1915 it became necessary to move to larger premises in Stricklandgate, where it was also possible to open a sweet shop and small factory.

The factory and shop were completely rebuilt in 1938 and a restaurant opened. Kendal Mint Cake became increasingly popular with tourists in the Lake District as well as climbers and explorers who found that, with its high energy value, Mint cake gave them a delicious and refreshing energy boost.

In 1966 yet another extension and factory were built but due to further demand by 1983 it finally became necessary to move completely to a new 12,000 sq ft factory at Cross Lane, Kendal which is where our premises are still situated today.

Kendal Mint Cake is still made in exactly the same way as it was nearly 100 years ago, stiring the sugar by hand in copper pans to get that magic taste.

The Toffee Shop in Penrith - English Toffee and Fudge since 1910

The Toffee Shop in Penrith, Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District, has been making fudge and toffee since 1910.

The taste of Penrith Fudge is quite unique and elusive to describe as that of a fine wine. Our delicious fudge and toffee is all home made on the premises.

Fudge addicts flock here from all over the world because, until recently, this was the only place to buy it. It's on the left hand side at the bottom of the hill as you come into Penrith. If you find yourself lost it really doesn't matter - Penrith is not large and absolutely everyone knows where the Toffee Shop is.The Toffee Shop was originally opened by the Furnass family just after the First World War and has worked through three families, eventually being owned by Neil and Pat Boustead.

Fudge is made from butter, sugar and milk to a simple recipe and in small batches, so that it cooks evenly and thoroughly. There are always plenty of people to fuss over the 8 brass pans - stirring it when it needs stirring, and checking that it never boils over or catches in the pan. Once cooked, the fudge is poured into cooling trays and then cut by hand into slabs. We should not forget the toffee -made with sugar, butter, syrup or black treacle - it also packs a powerful punch. It is also made by hand and once cooled in trays is broken up with a hammer and the irregularly shaped pieces individually wrapped.

There are hundreds of fudge shops in Britain so what makes this one so different? - It's difficult to describe the sensation of eating the fudge - it's a rich grainy textured fudge like tablet (Scottish fudge) but smoother and not as sweet, so you can eat masses without feeling sick. Lord Lichfield has been quoted as calling it " the best fudge in the world" and endorses this by having regular orders sent.

Bookster Country Clothing

Our experience has shown a high demand for classic, high quality vintage items in interesting cloths and patterns.  Customers appreciate both the quality of workmanship and cloths that are difficult to find these days. Additionally, these styles of clothing are becoming harder to find, as many are no longer produced. Larger sized vintage items in particular are exceedingly rare; this is completely at odds with the needs of many of today's customers.
.
These were all things that started us thinking about creating our own range of traditional British clothing. We decided to begin with predominantly tweeds, in styles and of a quality that would delight anyone seeking the best. These garments are made for you with bespoke options to select, such as individual back and sleeve lengths, waist fittings, working cuff buttons, and other special touches you would normally find only with face to face Bespoke Tailoring.
We then set ourselves specific goals:
  1. The clothing MUST be produced in England, to the highest standards, by craft tailors and carefully overseen by ourselves
  2. We would only use the best British cloths.
  3. We should cater to the widest possible range of sizes, including specific personal requirements such as sizing and fitting.
  4. We would offer made to measure clothing with multiple bespoke options.
  5. Last but not least, the items must be affordable and be suitable for both Town & Country use.
