The Printed Cup Company

The Printed Cup Company currently manufacture paper cups from their factory in China and have been doing so since 2007. Recently, they have opened a new manufacturing unit in the UK, producing printed paper cups. The Printed Cup Company has received European Union funding to open a new UK manufacturing facility to make paper cups in Clitheroe from early spring 2012. It is predicted that 75% of these will be for export.

 

The company was founded in 2005 and began operating out of Mark Woodward’s front room, after he was made redundant in his 50’s following a long career in the packaging industry. The company has expanded year on year despite the impact of the global recession, and a new European Sales Office was recently built adjoining the manufacturing unit. The company’s turnover has doubled over the past 12 months, and 2 new members of staff have joined the team in the last 6 months alone. The Paper Cup Company was recently featured on the BBC One’s Inside Out programme, and has featured on radio stations and in magazines.

The original lava lamps invented by the founder of Mathmos Edward Craven-Walker in 1963

The lava lamp or” Astro lamp” as it was then called captured the public’s imagination and became one of the defining products of the 1960s. It appeared in many films and broadcasts of the time including the cult TV series The Prisoner.

The product was manufactured in Poole, Dorset, as it still is today, and sold all over the world in large numbers under the original company name of Crestworth. Mr Walker took out world wide patents and made royalty deals with a number of overseas companies to manufacture and sell his invention in their countries for the duration of the patents.

Each bag contains a sprinkling of lavender, grown in The Burren, in
Southern Ireland, adding a subtle fragrance.

Hope and Benson are committed to not using cheap, exploited, overseas labour, instead producing by hand, our bags and accessories in England and Ireland. Angela’s studio is based in County Leitrim, Ireland and Daniela’s is based in Bristol, England. All the manufacturing remains in our studio’s, where each bag is hand cut on the premises and constructed using traditional methods.
