William Clark & Sons - Irish Linen

William Clark & Sons is the oldest Linen manufacture in Northern Ireland established in 1736 and still in the hands of the original Clark family. Clark's of Upperlands at Maghera have been manufacturing fine Linen canvas for the tailoring industry for over 260 years, around its unique process of beetling.
On parallel the company has developed a unique know-how in dyeing, finishing both traditional and technical (softening, stiffening, raising, bleaching, FR, fluorocarbon.) to fit its own purpose or on a commission basis.
In addition in 1999 the Company installed a textile coating and laminating range to stick two or more fabrics together including waterproof breathable films. Investment created the opportunity for a technical textiles business where the end products are used for specialist clothing and other industrial applications such as geotextile, furnishings.

  1. absolutely superb company with the foresight to innovate its basic product into different streams. Delighted to know it is still in operation. Speaking as a member of the linnen industory many years ago in a world wide known mill. Maybe they would give me a tour of their plant? Might ask them!
